Monday 27th April

Arrived 1pm to light rain, which eventually turned into a downpour, we bought the clear plastic of umbrellas for 2.50€ each the rain was relentless - but still warm enough for it to be amusing. Walked from Asakusa metro around the Senso-Ji temple.

We dropped our bags, far too tired to go near our beds; just in case we didn't surface.

We heading to a ramen place 10-15m walk, it did not disappoint, food was delicious, sat on stools at the counter, we could watch the chef cooking through the steam.

Tom woke at silly o’clock starving so he went on a snack hunt at the nearby Lawson’s! (he was baffled by the choice of "cartoon" snacks!)

Tuesday 28th

I woke feeling terrible, shaky and very squiffy, couldn’t stay awake! I slept until midday. Tom worked on our website in the communal area.

We eventually went out to see the divine gardens in the Shinjuku National Park, we did a several metro stops and changes, I’m delighted with fact the public toilets are everywhere and are very clean. The weather was a warm 23c sunny and slightly muggy. We wandered around the national park, fairly small but beautiful.

Stopping at the Rakuu-tei Tea House in the park and had some vegetable sushi, we wanted to get to a shrine (I cannot remember the name!) being only a 30 minute walk, but was still feeling awful. So we headed back towards our part of town, aiming for the Tokyo Skytree.

We arrived at about 6pm, managed to get our tickets and joined the groups heading up at 6:30, we had the autumn sky lift (there are four each named for a season, with details in the lift - ours looks like brass metal work leave pattern).

We went to the first level at 350ft, so many people, and the music was so loud; quite a shock as most public places in Tokyo have been fairly quite places. The views were staggering, you could just see Mount Fuji (well we thing the shape we saw was it!  but it could have been a strange cloud.

Then to the next floor, 450ft with a curved / raising floor to bring you up to 455ft, the windows were a bit bigger the sun was mostly set. The city lights were starting to sparkle.

We descended down stopped at the next floor down - found a spot on the glass floor, very busy and cramped. We had photo taken in a silly 3D fold out frame.

Tom found Vegan Eat Tokyo 8 minutes walk from our hostel, so we hopped on the metro, which was lovely quiet journey. The food was good, though sadly my appetite was low so I couldn't enjoy it as much as I'd like.

Heading back to the hotel, crashed at 9:45 yikes sooo tired!
